Work Chum, Midday Meditation Nap, The Book Of Awareness

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Work chum Betty N. called. It's nice to know I'm still being thought about. I didn't answer when she called, but heard her voice mail right away, and called her back shortly after. She had company so couldnn't talk, we'll talk again.

~ Midday meditation leads me to fall into a nap. Something that, deep down inside, is much needed because my sleep schedule has been lacking a lot lately.

~ I read the first section of The Book Of Awakening, by Mark Nepo, and really like it. I like the questions to ponder every day.

Ceaser's Pizza, Wonderful Sister, Super Soul Sundays

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Got in touch with Carole before she came over to ask if she could pick up a Little Ceaser pizza for dinner. I'm so happy I did -it was so yummy

~ Carole came in with bags of groceries for me! She is such a thoughtful and generous sister, a wonderful role model for her daughters

~ Oprah's Super Soul Sundays are grand lessons presented on Sundays. Today Marianne Williamson was on in the morning and Iyanla Vanzant was on at night. Both are beautiful, insightful, intelligent teachers.

Yes To Picnic, Singing Margaritaville, Beautiful Crooners

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Betty called me on the phone and definitely did bring up the picnic next week, so I WILL be going with her, and as I told her, I am SOOOOO looking forward to seeing Keith.

~ The guys in dialysis start talking about Jimmy Buffett and his concert today, which brings me into singing Margaritaville out loud.

~ Watching a TV commercial for Time's Music Of Your Life a CD compilation with the beautiful crooner voices -Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, The Platters, Englelbert Humperdinck, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Pat Boone, Perry Como, those love songs from the 40's - 70's are timelessly beautiful

Disconnected, Haircut, Crossed Eyes

TODAY I SMILEED...

~ Kristie was very kind to give HIS number a call for me and find out that the number is disconnected, which means that I can no longer take it personally that I haven't received a return text from him.

~ Got my haircut VERY short, and in my book, very cute!

~ Sent Anne and Sara texts to say I was sorry to hear of their gerbil Stifano's death today. Anne sent me a reply asking me to send her a picture of my haircut. I sent her a picture of me crossing my eyes and wrote "Never cross your eyes ~they might get stuck that way!" She wrote back "Ok I don't know how anyway :)"

Work Picnic, The Grace Of Gracie, The Machine Says

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Spoke to Lisa, the evening receptionist at CSS, and found out there was going to be a work picnic. I believed she said tomorrow and I swore at God with mucho gusto. I texted Betty to see if she was going and she told me it is next week, and invited me. I wrote back with a "YES!"

~ As I sat outside dialysis waiting for Bob technician Gracie walked by, stopped to say hi, saw that the wind had blown a piece of hair into my mouth, and flipped it away with her finger.

~ As a young dialysis technician walks by, the machine starts beeping and I tell him it is saying I could leave twenty minutes early. He laughs and says "You know, I was trying to find a come back for that but just couldn't find one!"

The Animals, Feeling Better, Thoughts

TODAY I SMIILED...

~ Betty replied to a text saying "The animals r still in place." At first I thought she meant our co-workers were all behaving! Later it hit me that she was talking about the origami animals I gave to Keith!

~ I was in pain this morning with a UTI and decided to call off a doctor appointment. I took a rather long nap after taking a cepro pill from my last bought in June, and felt much better after I woke up.

~ The thought crosses my mind "They all did their very best", which leads me to forgive everyone I ever knew within seconds.

Sweet Tooth

TODAY I SMILED...

~ On the way home from dialysis I get Carole to take me to buy a gallon of milk. Along with the milk I also ask for a Three Musketeers, which totally makes my sweet tooth happy later on.

Sweet Breeze, New Doc, My 'A' Team

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Lulled into a nap as I lay on my living room sofa listening to the breeze shake the leaves of the trees

~ Meeting my new doctor who will be putting a fistula in my arm for kidney dialysis. He's quite smart and knowledgeable, two traits that are always welcomed in a new doctor.

~ Carole was over to put ointment on my wound before Bob came to take me to my appointment in the medical office building.

Retro Candy, Sweet Scent, Now Include Sunday

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Carole, Sara and Anne came over today, and presented me with a Clark bar! They got it at a candy store that sells vintage candy. Carole tried to find a Marathon bar, but the Clark bars are totally awesome and very much appreciated!

~ Carole asked if I could recall the powder mom use to use after a shower at time. I thought she was wondering what the scent was and told her I was pretty sure it was Chanel #5. She then mentioned that she smells that whenever she opens my hall closet!

~ No more Sundays to work for CSS Old Business! I don't know when, or if, I'll get back to work there someday, but if I do, week-ends will now be actual week-end days!

My Ride

~ Calling Bob to ask if he can take me for my fistula evaluation on Monday in Dearborn and he says "Yes, no problem!" He is very kind and generous with his time.

Carole Laughing, Catherine Drawing, Karen Snail Mail, Bob Treats

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Sitting with Carole before going to dialysis, watching Tuesday's Trust Us With Your Life. She had been looking forward to it because Rick Gervais was on it this week. She forgot to tape it but because she told me how funny it was last week I decided to start taping it. I totally enjoyed hearing her, hearing someone, laugh.

~ I told Catherine how talented she is after she placed her DrawSomething Elvis drawing on Facebook, and now I have someone else to play this fun game with!

- In today's mail I received snail mail from Karen which included a picture of me and mom, and a picture of me and Christopher, taken years ago. She wrote "Pardon my snail mail...but sometimes it is actually nice to get." I LOVE snail mail!

~ Bob treated me to Taco Bell on the way home from dialysis. Combo #10 -my favorite! Two crunchy tacos, a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, and a large diet Mountain Dew -soooo yum!

Doc Approval, Living Room Cartwheels, Seafood Sub #2

TODAY I SMILED...

~ My wound doctor said that I have his approval to go back to work again. My wound is improving much. I haven't worked since January 4th due to braking my hip, and all sorts of things happening to me in the hospital -C-Diff, bed ulcer surgeries, and infections.

~ After Carole and the girls arrive at my place I tell Sara "You know, I haven't seen you do a cartwheel across the room yet!" I remind her that last week when they were over, after Dave changed my furniture around, that she said she likes how it is now so, she can do a cartwheel in my living room! After saying that she cartwheels, Anne does one also. She's taller and didn't't foresee herself landing onto the cardboard box that holds my medical bandages! She was Ok, said she was sorry and not ouch, so that was good!

~ Dinner was easy and good -the remaining 6" of yesterday's seafood sub from Subway that Carole bought me yesterday!

Subway Suppers

TODAY I SMILED...

~ On the way home from dialysis Carole asked if I wanted anything to eat. She mentioned Subways, and offered to buy, so I said "Heck yea!" She got me a foot long seafood sub, and a large diet lemonade. I ate 6 inches today and saved 6 inches for tomorrow!

Anne's Cupcakes

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Carole brought over a couple red velvet mini cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that Anne made in the mini cupcake maker Carole and Dave got her for her birthday. So yummy! Anne put a tiny smiley face on each cupcake!

Floor Scraping, New Groceries, Fried Fairs

TODAY I SMILED...

~ As I walk out of dialysis for the day, John and another dialysis technician poke fun at the LOUD scraping noise my old walker makes as it scrapes across the floor, they notice I have a new walker -one that cannot be made fun of too easily!

~ The day after Carole has gone grocery shopping for me presents me with assorted delicious yummies in the house -diet orange Crush soda, chocolate fudge pop tarts, cream cheese for my bagels, chocolate Ensure, ...ooooooh yum!

~ Watching a show on the Travel Channel about state fairs, and the oh so delicious foods they present, one city has deep fried butter, one has deep fried gum, and another deep fried watermelon! I got curious about Michigan's State Fair, came to find out it hasn't been open since 2008, but it will be open once again this year in Novi.

Interior Decorating, Hello Rosa, Kristie On Coast

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Dave, Carole and the girls came over so that Dave could move my living room furniture around, plug my TV into the living room cable -where it will now remain, and hang the living room drapes and rod up.

~ Hearing my phone ring and seeing Rosa's name on my caller ID. We talk for about twenty minutes! I miss seeing her and my friends at work.

~ Listening to Kristy Robinett on late night radio show Coast To Coast, she did a great job!

Song & Smack, Late Pick Up, Peepers

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Fun's We Are Young comes on the radio at dialysis. John walks by and I tell him "Hey, that's one of my favorite songs, sing along with that!" He laughs and smacks my leg.

~ As I wait for Bob to pick me up from dialysis, I glance at my cell phone clock, realize he's running late and call him. He tells me he forgot after he finally reaches me, but it was all totally fine -the weather was beautiful, I was listening and trying to watch trees be cut next door, and I knew he'd buy me Taco Bell on the way home like he always does!

~ Betty texted me back to let me know that her eye surgery appointment went really well yesterday!

Fixed Phone, Thanks Keith, Cruiser Doing Fine

TODAY I SMILED...

~ All my broken cell phone needed was the battery to be removed and placed back in my phone and I was in business again! I thought it was broke for the past week, and was expecting to be told I would need to buy a new one, but, nope, I was lucky! We were in and out of the phone store within five minutes, the clerk told me that if it should have the same problems again some day, which consisted of not being able to send a text, change the volume, and make a call, dial *73 and it should help!

~ Betty brought Keith's walker over for me to borrow. Thank You Keith! (...which is what I told him by text AND e-mail!) "And yes he still has your origami creatures on his desk", she told me.

~ Carole told me that my car is not broke, it's starting just fine. The remote control is simply not working, and that is MUCH better than what I feared!

Planning For Fistula, Hacking Life, Jigsaw

TODAY I SMILED...

~ The folks at dialysis are right on track with me -they made a new appointment for me to get a fistula in my arm, it is set for Monday, July 23rd.

~ Enjoying the website Marc And Angel Hack Life at marcandangel.com.It's inspiring, therapeutic, interesting. One of my favorites.

~ Passing the time away on my jigsaw IPad app during dialysis, it makes the time flow by so nicely!

Carole Cleans My Carpet, Peacock Journal, Uh-Oh

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Carole vacuumed my carpet for me and made it look quite nice! There is a vacuum in my closet that I never used before, never seen before, and I still have a vacuum new in a sealed box I ordered last year because I didn't think I had one!

~ Beginning a brand new nine week diary in my peacock journal book. New journals always fill me with such hope for the weeks that lie ahead.

~ Carole's new call alarm totally cracked me up because it sounded like an ancient Roman sound off that I thought was going to be a nation-wide alarm about the end of the world being today rather than December 21, 2012. Strange, I know, but at the time it was so freakin' funny!

More Milk, Super Souls, Second Sight

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Carole came walking in my door with a gallon of new milk, knowing I probably needed some even though I didn't tell her, a half hour after I poured the rest of my last gallon in my breakfast cereal.

~ Watching Super Soul Sunday shows on OWN, Oprah's network. I enjoyed listening to Deepak Chopra speak and Rainn Wilson talk about his Bahai faith.

~ Listening to Dr. Judith Orloff on Coast To Coast. I would like to read the book she wrote about intuition titled Second Sight.

Birthday Girl, Happy Song, Swing Dance

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Eating at Applebee's with Carole, Anne, and Sara for Anne's 12th birthday. Carole was kind to buy my dinner. I had a trio sampler, chose cheeseburger sliders, hot boneless buffalo wings, and steak quesadilla towers to be my trio. I drank a frozen strawberry lemonade to go with it. For Anne's meal she chose the Triple Chocolate Brownie dessert!

~ As the waiters and waitresses walked up to the table loudly singing their crazy happy birthday song, Anne tried to hide behind her long hair as she pulled it in front of her face.

~ Anne and Sara showed me their choreographed dance routine they did on their backyard swing.

My Favorite Psychic, Boca Burgers, Cleaning Cases

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Reading the first 20 pages of Kristy Robinett's Messenger Between Worlds (Volume 1) on Amazon, and wished it showed the whole book! Kristy is a good life coach, great psychic, and, yes indeedy, a wonderful writer. A wonderful woman. She'll be on Coast To Coast next Friday!

~ While Carole and Sara were over so that Carole can change my bandage, Carole made me a Boca burger for dinner. Boca burgers are really quite good! They are like veggie burgers, no meat in them, and yet they taste like chargrilled burgers! Quite yummy! yummy!

~ Decided to start sorting my book cases, I love my book cases organized! I would be happy living in a cozy library!

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Finding out that one of my favorite kidney dialysis technicians, and fellow Coast To Coast fan, has started working at a Clinicic closer to his home. He'll be missed but he won't have as far of a drive, and that's a good thing for him!

~ Received my approval for disability in the mail. I'll be bringing in some money to pay my monthly bills!

~ Tried a Crunch Wrap Supreme combo from Taco Bell, a treat I never had before! It was quite good -it was from Taco Bell, how could it not be ?!?!

Hi Bro, Firecracker Firecracker Boom Boom Boom, So Freakin' Hot

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Talking to Chuck on the phone. He sounds fine right now. He's in Bowling Green, Kentucky and he likes that town,...and that's a good, good thing! I hadn't spoken to him since he called me in the rehab in February after I broke my hip.

- Listening to firecrackers ba-booming outside. I wish I wasn't sofa-ridden so I could go see a fantastic July 4th show!

- Opening my balcony door to very warm 100-degree weather, then quickly closing it before the cool air conditioned air left the room and waved farewell. I'm SO happy I have air conditioning!

Sweet Sounding Rain, Double Crossed Legs, Funny John

TODAY I SMILED...

~ Laying on my sofa, listening to the rain outside -one of the most relaxing sounds I've ever heard.

~ Seeing Sara sitting in my living room rocking chair, her legs double crossed!

~ John, a dialysis worker, makes me laugh! I tease him about his singing, but just the fact that he sings, laughs, and talks kindly makes me smile!

Betty On The Phone, Keith & Origami, Funny Red Head

TODAY I SMILRD...

- Talked to Betty on the phone, she is so hard to get a hold of! (Sad though, she informed me that Rick, the leader of our company, was actually fired last week! Heidi texted me that many changes will be taking place. I wonder if I'll actually make it back there to work again. On Wednesday it will be 6 months since I've been gone with assorted medical problems -broken hip, bed ulcers which needed skin vac treatment, C diff, weak wobbly muscles)

- Betty told me that Keith still has the pretty paper creatures I made for him on his desk. I made him an origami cat for Christmas last year, and an origami crane while in the hospital.

- Watching I Love Lucy, a series from the mid-50's starring Lucille Ball And Desi Arnaz. I love that show -probably the funniest TV show ever produced!
